LARGE GARDEN
Positioned on the edge of beautiful Buckinghamshire this substantial property is surrounded by stunning countryside on three sides and the generous gardens wrap all the way around. We saw immediately that we needed to borrow the beauty from this stunning location to formulate some early concept plans.
With woodland views and a South West facing aspect the aim was to create individual zones and ‘rooms’ and each would maximise its aspect and microclimate. These zones included a swimming pool and pool house and terrace, tennis court and evening drinks pergola, a large vegetable garden and a grand scale outdoor cooking and dining area that enjoys the best view over the pool to the countryside and sunset beyond.
Getting the flow between inside and out was critical to the success of the design due to the long expanses of glass along the rear of the property. Extensive walled terracing step down gently from the house exits and form the backbone of the design soaking up significant site gradients.
Primary and secondary paths lead you to many pleasant places to be, at all times of the day, indeed a journey can be undertaken to tour the property, stopping off at many hot spots for drinks, sport, play and socialising, all the while the stunning house looks over you dominating the big picture.
This previously blank space now offers an outdoor extension of the home. The gardens are set in a stunning location and so we designed the scheme to provoke a series of ‘wows’ as visitors enjoy the gardens.
Judging by the before and after images of the gardens it is amazing just how much work has been put into the project by the landscapers, ours truly and a very ambitious client who had full confidence in their team – a team of builders, a project manager and a designer with a garden plan that delivered maximum ‘wow’! Whether you want to swim, play tennis, soak in a hot tub, entertain at the bespoke outdoor kitchen diner or enjoy a night time camp fire, it’s all there for the delighted clients.
