The Brief:

The Brief:

This architecturally distinctive property needed a garden to match – a garden for entertaining friends and family and relaxing and dining outdoors. Whilst the house had been remodelled with no expense spared it was down to us to design a garden to match.

The existing garden did suffer from privacy issues i.e., neighbours’ windows looking in on three sides and the remaining trampoline and well used lawn were evidence of a well-used space for children’s games and parties. The clients now wanted the garden to enter a new phase – a phase for entertainment and socialising.

The Solution

The Solution

TFirstly, the privacy issue needed to be resolved so carefully chosen evergreen trees were placed to screen the social hotspots in the garden, we were then free to place the sitting and dining areas and various spots on the terracing for drinks and socialising.

A space was needed to allocate a large garden room featuring a bespoke rustic kitchen with pizza oven and all mod kitchen cons, nearby a generous lounge area enjoys a wall mounted tv and log fireplace. A large format staircase pushes the feeling of depth and widens the entire space visually. With the back of the house displaying long expanses of glass it was crucial to design the garden to be enjoyed from inside the house both day and night-time with subtle garden lighting highlighting trees and the inviting garden room.

The Outcome:

Looking at the before and after images of the garden shows just how much value has been added to the property. A sumptuous garden room hosts family parties for outdoor dining and recreation alongside a distinctive modern hot tub. Generous wide steps climb down gently throughout the plot, levels that are framed by the slim steel estate fencing – inspired by the stunning classic crittle house windows. Billowing ‘Hydrangea Annabelle’ softens the drop from upper terrace to lawn and are a real picture looking out from the house. The garden certainly is an extension of the house and readily usable all year round.
